Digital Fetal Doppler
9 October 2009 | No Comments »Before buying or renting a fetal doppler, you might want to think about if you want to get digital fetal Doppler. If you have a normal fetal Doppler, you are going to have to count out how many heart beats your baby’s heart is doing. With a digital fetal Doppler, it will have a digital display that will automatically count how many heart beats per minute your baby’s heart is beating. The baby’s heart will beat pretty fast, around 190 times per minute. So you can imagine that counting that out in your head might be a little problem. A good quality fetal Doppler will be able to hear your baby’s heart beat in as little as 8 weeks. Some cheap heart beat devices are not actual fetal dopplers because they amplify the sound. A real fetal Doppler works by turning movement into sound, which is how they work so you can hear your baby’s heart beat. The ones that are not good quality are not suppose to be used until the third trimester. So if you want to be able to hear your baby’s heart without having to go the doctor’s for an ultrasound, a digital fetal Doppler is the best choice for you. It is always a fun time when you are having friends or family around and you can use your fetal Doppler so they can hear the baby. A fast heart beat is a good sign of a strong heart. Usually the first time you will hear your baby’s heart beat is when you have the first ultrasound done at the doctor’s office. When it is your first time using a fetal Doppler, it will take some time to get good at finding your baby’s heart beat at first. Once you get some practice at it, you will get better and finding it more easily. When your baby is only 8 weeks along, it will be a little harder to find it compared to a baby that is 20 weeks along. Some fetal dopplers that you will find will come with a gel that you use on your stomach when you use the fetal doppler. Some of them will not come with any, but you need to double check to see if the fetal doppler needs the gel or not. If it does need the gel, but it does not come with any, you will be able to easily find some to use with it. Lastly, before you buy a fetal doppler, you want to double check how early it can detect your baby’s heart beat. The best fetal dopplers will be able to detect your little baby’s heart beat starting at 8 weeks old.
