I bought this and within two days of ordering, it was in my mailbox. I was able to find the heartbeat pretty quick. The LCD screen shows what is supposed to be the actual heart rate, however it is really fickle so I wouldn't depend on it. You have to turn the volume way up in order to hear the heartbeat clearly, however once you move the device you get a really loud feedback. All in all I am happy with my purchase. I wanted something that I could use to hear the heartbeat whenever I wanted to and that is what I got. The extras are just a plus if they work :)

My husband and I were very impressed by the ease of finding the fetal heartbeat and the clarity in which it is heard. The quality of sound was the same or better than at the doctor's office.
One of the weaknesses is that it is relatively difficult to get an accurate heart rate due to the fact that you need a steady stream of sound for 8 seconds. If the baby moves, you lost it!
There are additional weaknesses, but not to the point that we would tell anyone NOT to buy this product. They are just some little things that you have to figure out...and we have already figured out a lot in our 5 days of ownership.
Before you start aimlessly looking for the heartbeat, you or your significant other can feel around gently for the hardest spot in your belly and start there. If you find the hard spot and start there, it has been our experience to find the heartbeat within a minute. Here are some things to look out for:
If you hold the transducer too close to the base you will hear some obnoxious feedback that is similar to a guitar and amp. The instructions state that you need a lot of the gel and they aren't lying. If you don't have enough gel on your belly, there will be some more obnoxious noises. When you do have enough gel, the transducer moves easily and it is easier to find the heartbeat. However, it is very important to hold the transducer very steady for the best signal and the least amount of interference.
Another thing we found is that if you try for a longer period of time (which we did the first day we got it) the heartbeat will disappear. That was only because the baby dropped toward my back from laying in the same position for so long. We tried a little later after I had been walking around and had laid on my left side for about a half hour and we were able to pick up the heart beat right away.
Other than these small things that we had to figure out, we are very happy with this purchase. It is very comforting to be able to say, "Do you want to listen to the baby?" and have the option to do just that. This was a well-spent amount of money, and because we are planning to have more children, we plan to use it for a while. It was a good investment.
Now about me. You may be wondering how far along I am for it to be so easy to hear the heartbeat. The day we received the Babycom Fetal Doppler, I was at the first day of my 17th week. I have 23 more weeks to use it:)

The heartrate display isn't always accurate. I paid the extra $30 so I could have the heartrate displayed. I should have stuck with the standard radar without the lcd screen for less than $30.
it has one song on it. the instructions are minimal and pretty bad, seems to have been translated from a different language without being corrected for errors or clarity. I am not sure what the "build in battery" is but you have to power it with 4 AAA.

It has a waterproof probe and LCD panel to display the heart rate. I started listening around 8 weeks and heard the heartbeat for the first time at 9w2d. With my previous pregnancy I didn't get the doppler until 10 weeks and easily heard it on the first try. I've rented one of the more expensive models like the OBs use and think this seems just as good.

As soon as this arrived, I put the battery in and tried it out.
On the box is says to use from 14-16 weeks, and even though I'm only at 12 weeks, it worked perfectly.
I used a mixture of regular lotion and massage oil. At first heard my own heartbeat, and after a couple of minutes of slowly moving around, found the baby's heartbeat. A loud wooshing, galloping sound. It's truly amaziing, and I'll be using it every day :)

I bought this item because I was anxious to hear the heartbeat. I had a miscarriage last year and have been very paranoid about this pregnancy. Each time I have been to the dr's office they have not listened to the heartbeat and instead did a sonogram to see the hearbeat. I am now 18 weeks along. I tried to hear the heartbeat @ 12 weeks but did not have any luck until 16 weeks. I don't know if I couldn't hear it because I am overweight by about 30 lbs or because the baby has been so low in my abdomen. I have been able to feel movement @ about 14 weeks but couldn't hear the hearbeat until later. I think it works fine for the price but would have liked to hear it earlier. I tried it without the gel and didn't work at all. I ordered the ultrasound gel and it works great. I tried it with KY jelly and it worked also.

I bought the Angelsounds Fetal Doppler when I was about 21 weeks pregnant, it works like a charm. Just this morning I was a little worried that the baby wasn't moving at its usual time and all I had to do was listen and there it was - that fabulous sound of my baby's heart beat. It has offered me and my husband nothing but reassurance and comfort. It is the best investment I could have made for this pregnancy. The amazing thing is that it is so inexpensive that almost any worried mother to be could purchase one, it is a fraction of the price of renting one for several months and it works just as well. My only regret is that I didn't buy a few weeks earlier. Just a note, I didn't buy the gel, thick lotion is not the best thing to use, but I've been using pre-seed lubricant that we had from when trying to conceive and it works very well.
